Domains
When signing up for WebSuite you will have the choice to either Bring Your Own Domain (BYOD) or purchase a domain through us (No BYOD).
Please note, the option to BYOD/No BYOD is only available for the Core Sites plan or higher. The Base Sites subscription plan does not allow you to utilize a fully customizable domain, however, you do have the option to customize your subdomain. Read more about this here.
What is a Domain?
A domain is a unique name found after the www. in a web address, and after the ‘@’ in an email address. It does NOT include "www." or "https://" but it DOES include ".com". Domains can be purchased for a yearly subscription through Domain Registrars. A unique and memorable domain name is an important part of any company's online presence.
BYOD
Bringing your own domain means that you have purchased your domain through a third party somewhere. This could be from GoDaddy, Google Domains, FastDomains, NameCheap etc…
- You will have full control over your domain.
- When making your website live, you will be responsible for making the DNS changes, or be willing to share the login credentials with us for the account. (Please note that if you decide to make the changes yourself, we are happy to assist you in completing the process.)
No BYOD
If you do not wish to bring your own domain, you can choose to purchase a domain through us when signing up for WebSuite. A domain subscription is an additional $20/year fee.
- We will manage and control your domain as long as your subscription remains active.
- When making your site live, our Site Builder will be fully responsible for making your DNS changes. This often makes this process a lot smoother.
- We can transfer your domain to you at any time; you would just need an active account for us to transfer the domain to. (GoDaddy, NameCheap etc.) (More Info on Domain Transferring )
New Domains & Domain Renewal
Whether you purchased your domain through GoDaddy or another provider, they are generally renewed automatically on a yearly basis. If you decide to purchase your domain through us, there will be an extra $20 a year subscription added to your profile. This subscription will allow us to maintain your domain moving forward. You can take control of your domain at any time, you can request us to transfer the domain to your by giving us a call at +1 (855) 600-4662 or emailing us at support@goboost.com. You will just need to provide us with the email associated with the account that you would like to have the domain transferred to.
